What is an Ally?

Webster's Dictionary defines  Ally as, "one that is associated with another as a helper : a person or group that provides assistance and support in an ongoing effort, activity, or struggle. Often now  used specifically of a person who is not a member of a marginalized or mistreated group but who expresses  or gives support to that group." When compared to the definition  of  Advocate, "to support or argue for (a cause, policy, etc.) : to plead in favor of " we see a maybe subtle, but important difference.

Advocates are your power people. They themselves  take charge and fight for what they believe is right and just. Allies on the other hand choose to walk alongside the people fighting, providing support and assistance in any way they can.  Burning Stone is proud and thankful to be partnered with so many allies that are providing help and support in our journey to ignite hope in Indigenous youth and their communities.
